Getting the size wrong causes problems in both directions: on a boat that is too large the party energy dissolves, while on one that is too small guests feel cramped and service suffers. Capacity and comfort are not the same thing

Every boat has an official guest capacity determined by its safety certificate. But the first thing an experienced crew will tell you is that legal capacity and comfortable hosting are different numbers. A 12-guest boat can legally host 12 people, yet once you account for seating, table setup and service space, the most enjoyable experience usually happens slightly below capacity. It is the entry-level size that stays affordable even for two, and the space is entirely yours: sit together at the bow, play your own music, share the deck with no one.

So for 2 people you rent the same boat; the point is not filling it, it is having it entirely to yourselves. Most romantic dinner and marriage proposal events happen at this size.

7 to 12 guests: families and friend groups

For family gatherings, a Bosphorus cruise with friends or small celebrations, 12-guest boats work right at the limit. If your group is exactly 12 and you are planning a seated dinner, moving one size up makes service noticeably more comfortable. For groups of 8 to 10, the 12-guest class hits the sweet spot between economy and comfort.

13 to 24 guests: bigger celebrations

This range belongs to the birthday party, the bachelorette party and mid-size corporate events. In the 24-guest class the deck and salon become distinct areas: a dinner table in one, music and a dance floor in the other. Part of the group can enjoy the view while the rest focuses on the fun, and that balance is what makes a party work.

25 to 36 guests: large events

Big birthdays, corporate events and large family celebrations call for the 36-guest class. At this size the catering format also changes: decide early between a standing cocktail and a seated dinner, and plan the service flow accordingly. For a seated dinner, 30 to 32 guests on a 36-guest boat is the most comfortable layout; a standing cocktail works fine at full capacity.

For groups larger than 36, rather than forcing a single vessel, consider a two-boat convoy cruise. It respects safety limits and looks spectacular in photographs.
