Bodrum is the birthplace of the blue cruise. The voyages the writer Cevat Şakir made with friends on sponge boats grew into a tradition on this coast; today the same waters are sailed aboard comfortable, crewed gulets.

Towards Gökova, Orak, Çökertme, the Seven Islands, English Harbour and Sedir Island with its ancient theatre fit comfortably into a single week. Swimming at Orak in the morning and dining on a Çökertme jetty by evening is the classic of this route. Heading south you reach Datça and the twin harbours of Knidos in Hisarönü, the fish restaurants of Selimiye, and Dirsekbükü, reachable only by sea.

Three nights make a short escape, four a balanced holiday, and seven the ideal length to explore Gökova unhurried. We build the route together with the captain, around the wind, your group's pace and the bays you want to see.

The season runs from May to the end of October. The sea is around 23°C in June, 26°C in August and still 25°C in September; July and August are the busiest, while May, June and September are the most balanced months. Because the afternoon breeze strengthens, captains usually plan the cruise for the morning, so blue cruise mornings are early and calm.

On daily tours the captain, crew and, on most boats, lunch are included; drinks are either brought aboard or bought from the boat's bar, depending on the vessel. On weekly charters the crew, daily fuel, harbour fees and insurance are typically included, while catering is arranged as a per-person package or a provisioning list.
